Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this practice better for me?
Dr. Wilson charges patients an annual membership fee, analogous to a lawyer’s retainer - she doesn’t bill your insurance company. This new practice model restores the direct relationship between patient and physician by treating patients in an unhurried, personalized, but professional manner. Membership is limited to no more than 400 patients, which allows the doctor to give more time and attention to each one and allows for more flexible and expedient appointments.
What if I go to the ER or I am hospitalized?
Throughout your hospitalization, Dr. Wilson will be your advocate. She will ensure that those in charge of your inpatient care are aware of your medical history, and she will regularly review your treatment plan.
If a specialist wants me to get blood work, can you draw it?
For the vast majority of tests, we can draw your blood, send the sample to your lab, and then send the results to your specialist. We ask that you call ahead to clarify the specific testing requirements.
I am young and healthy. Why would I join your practice?
Dr. Wilson believes in the importance of keeping you healthy. She will partner with you to optimize your long-term health outcomes. Even young, healthy people get sick, and Dr. Wilson will work closely with you to help you get well again.
What about my regular insurance coverage?
Dr. Wilson recommends that you maintain some form of medical insurance coverage. If you need additional tests or hospital care you will need insurance to pay for those expenses.
Can I submit bills to my insurance company?
For insurance purposes, Dr. Wilson is considered an “out of network” physician, and reimbursement rates are determined by your particular policy and may be subject to an annual deductible. Dr. Wilson will give you a receipt, which you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. As you will have already paid Dr. Wilson, any insurance reimbursement is yours. Check with your health insurance company for more information. Medicare and most PPO medical insurance plans do not require your primary care physician to be "in network" in order to cover lab and radiology orders or referrals.
Can I pay your annual fee out of a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?
Some Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plans may reimburse you for all or part of the membership fee. Check with your human resources representative or HSA/FSA plan manager to find out the specific details of your employer’s plans.
